We in this area have the use of the wonderful Ardgillian Park, with its walks, views, services and children’s play area. Unfortunately, access to the park is not adequately facilitated from the coast road. It has always been my belief that an entrance at Barnagerra was required. Over the years as a councillor, and even since 2004, I have continued to try to broker a resolution that would enable such an access. It is possible – all that is required is the will.

The smaller town parks and open spaces are providing an important amenity and must be maintained to a high standard. Any attempt to do otherwise must be robustly opposed. In turn, as new areas develop we must ensure that suitable layout and development of their open space occurs.
